Dr. Jeannie Alvarado – Astaiza, DDS
“Dr. Jeannie”
Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist & Founder
Dr. Jeannie Alvarado Astaiza is the founder and lead pediatric dentist at Wantagh Seaford Pediatric Dentistry, proudly serving families in Wantagh, Seaford, and surrounding Nassau County communities.
Dr. Jeannie is the heart of our practice—a highly trained pediatric dentist whose passion for children’s oral health is matched only by her commitment to creating a warm, welcoming, and fear-free experience for every family who walks through our doors.
A New York native, Dr. Jeannie graduated cum laude from St. John’s University with a degree in biology before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2005. She completed her general practice residency at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, where she gained extensive experience caring for medically diverse patient populations.
After spending several years in family dentistry, Dr. Jeannie felt called to focus her career on caring for children. While raising her own family, she pursued an additional two years of pediatric specialty training at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. During this time, she received advanced training in behavior guidance, minimally invasive dentistry, hospital dentistry, and treatment of children with special health care needs—expertise that continues to guide her gentle, patient-centered approach.
To further advance her clinical knowledge, Dr. Jeannie completed extensive continuing education through the United States Dental Institute, gaining additional expertise in pediatric growth and development, airway-focused care, and orthodontic fundamentals. She is also a HealthyStart® Certified Provider, enabling her to offer a proven, non-invasive system that supports proper oral development, addresses sleep-disordered breathing in children, and promotes healthy habits early in life.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Jeannie upholds the highest standards of clinical excellence. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Nassau County Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Families often share that what truly sets Dr. Jeannie apart is her warmth and sincerity.
A devoted mother of four, she understands the importance of trust when caring for children. She treats every patient as if they were her own—because to her, pediatric dentistry is not simply a profession but a calling rooted in compassion, service, and joyful dental experiences.
Outside the office, Dr. Jeannie is a proud local mom who cherishes being active in her community. Her faith plays a central role in her life, and she enjoys attending church weekly and staying involved in her parish St. William the Abbot. Whether cheering on her children, participating in neighborhood events, or welcoming new families to the practice, her mission remains the same: to help children grow up with healthy smiles, confidence, and lifelong positive memories of visiting the dentist.
